Ratio Funda [Video]

In this post I will discuss Ratios using many methods. This will help you solve frequently seen questions within seconds. Concepts such as Allegation, Difference are used to solve such questions.

This post will cover the concepts using examples thus will help you in Application part.

Most of these questions are frequently asked in CAT/BANKING/SSC. Videos will help you reducing the time needed to solve such questions. 2-3 methods are discussed.

1. A total of Rs. 180 is divided among 100 students such that each girl student receives Rs. 2 and each boy student receives Rs. 1.5 . Find the number of girl student.

A: 60.

S: In above question one approach is to go by allegation;
G ____B
2 ___1.5
__1.8__
3____ 2

So 60 and 40.

Other approach is to use approach something like this

Total students 100
If boys get all the money 1.5*100=150
Money remaining 180-150=30
Which was due to difference of 0.5
30/0.5= 60 and hence 100-60 = 40
So 60 40 .

2. Amit takes a loan of Rs 10,000, partly at 6% SI and rest at 8% SI. If he pays a total interest of Rs.1500 in 2 yrs, find the amount taken on loan at 6%.

A: 2500.

Using Allegation :

geo.JPG

Similarly we can see the approach above using Allegations;
If he paid interest all in 12% (6*2)
then he must have paid 1200 Interest
But he is paying here 1500 300 Extra due to 4% difference 300/4%= 7500
So 10,000-75000 = 2500.

3. In CAT , each correct answer fetches 4 marks and each wrong answer fetches a penalty of 1 marks . If a student attempts 48 questions and scores 132 marks, find the number of correct and wrong answers.

A: 36 & 12.

If he attempted all correct 48*4= 192
But his actual score is 132.
Difference is 60 due to difference of 5 So 60/5= 12 wrong.

4. In a zoo, there are only pigeons and rabbits. If there are a total of 200 heads and 560 legs , find the number of pigeons and rabbits.

A: 80 R & 120 P

If all are pigeons 200 heads and 400 legs will be the logic
But extra 160 is due to difference of 2
So 160/2 =80 .

5. I cover a total of 240 km in 6 hrs , partly at 30 kmph and rest at 60 kmph. What is the distance covered at 30 kmph.

A: 120 Km

Which Mock To Buy For SBI PO 2016 Mains

Dear aspirants,

SBI PO Prelims is now over and aspirants may be looking around for opinions regarding the best mock available in the market. Hence this post is to help candidates chose mocks wisely as not much time is left for mains to go. It took me some time to go through few test taking companies and then put down my opinion on this post.

1. Oliveboard:

Oliveboard better known as OB has done impressively well in creating their SBI PO mocks. Free from technical glitches and errors, OB has done commendable job in quickly adapting to the new Mains pattern. The level of difficulty of OB mocks are moderate to difficult but in comparison to its rival Practice Mock it stays comparatively easy.

No. of Mocks – 10
Price – 499/-
[Without 10% discount]
Overall Level – Moderate

1 free Mock is available for everyone.

You can visit www.oliveboard.in and know more about them.

Rating(/5) :-  ✮ ✮ ✮ ✮

2. Practice Mock

Not only does it provide excellent quality mocks but also they are pretty cheap compared to the other best alternative i.e Oliveboard. The level of difficulty ranges from Moderate to difficult.

No. of Mocks – 10 and 5
Price – 200 or 125.

Overall Level – Moderate to difficult

1 free Mock is available for everyone.

To know more about them visit practicemock.com.

Rating(/5) :-  ✮ ✮ ✮ ✮

Other players in the market like Mahendra’s has done too much injustice to their servers and user interface. Hence I will not recommend Mahendra’s even though it remained aspirants favorite for a decade.

Those who still don’t believe that SBI PO Mains actual exam difficulty may lie between OB and PM mocks may try other mocks like Carrer Power, Test Book etc but I would still not recommend them.

As the duration of exam has gone up and there is already enough to study it would be better you stick to 1 mock this time. Rather than experimenting on different mocks or running behind free mocks it would be better to concentrate on this post and honestly take these mocks seriously.

All the best. 🙂

Final Tips For SBI PO Prelims 2016

Dear SBI PO aspirants,

This video will help candidates to tackle SBI PO Pre 2016 efficiently.

Strategy for 9th and 10th slot:

Based on 2nd and 3rd slot papers, I’ve listed down some strategy that will be helpful to you clearing the cutoff.

Stick to the English strategy as discussed in the video. Next the real game changer is the Reasoning section as there are no Syllogisms and the caselets are pretty tough. So the best way is to (in the reasoning) attempt first –

  • 5 Inequality questions
  • 3 Blood relation questions
  • 3 Order based questions
  • 2 or 3 direction sense questions

This will put you beyond 10-11 with 100% accuracy as these are pretty simple.

After these put time on Quants and English and try to do 1-2 Reasoning case-let if time permits but don’t get stuck.

Circular Arrangements

FullSizeRender (36).jpg

Dear Aspirants,

This post will help Banking aspirants to prepare for Circular Arrangement. I have started with basic theory along with solving couple of caselets.

In normal circular arrangement, persons are sitting around a circle and facing the centre.

Aa. Left movement is called clock- wise rotation.

b. Right movement is called anti – clock- wise rotation.

According to the information, you have to specify the position of all the persons in the arrangement. The positions are specified through conditions like a particular person is sitting right or left of another person.

For e.g.

Question – Four persons are A, B, C and D is sitting in a circle facing the centre. A is sitting second to the left of D. C is sitting third to the right of A. C is sitting opposite to B.

(i) First step is to read the information and draw a circle.

A

(ii) After drawing a circle, find out who is on right side and who is on left side of.

(iii) Pick one information first and solve the questions accordingly. In question, it is given A is sitting second to the left of D. So, you have to fix the place of A and D in a circle.b

After fixing the place of A and D, we will move to another information. Now, here it is given, C is sitting third to the right of A.c

After fixing the place of A, D and C, we will move to another information. C is sitting opposite to B.D
